Junior National Pairs
This event has been cancelled.
Frischmann Trophy. New Melville BC. Single-session matchpointed pairs. Open to all junior players (born on or after 1 January 1995). It is not necessary to be an SBU member. Entry is free and the Melville Bridge Club will not charge table money. The winners will be invited to represent Scotland Juniors in the Chairman's Cup in Sweden in July.
Scottish Cup Plate
Knockout teams of four, being a consolation event for teams eliminated from the Scottish Cup in the first round in which they play, providing this is no later than the second round. This competition is run according to the rules of the Scottish Cup. There is no direct entry into the Plate.
Spence Cup
This event has been cancelled.
Match pointed pairs (39 boards) for the winners and runners-up in the Pairs Championship of each of the seven Districts. Venue rotates around the districts.
Scottish Cup 2020-21

The entry closing date has been reached, and fresh information including the draw will be released by July 17th. However, as we have an odd number of entrants and a spare pair, late entrants are welcome.
The list of entrants is not current, please ignore it and communicate directly with the Convenor (Bill Whyte) or 'masterpoints' at the domain of sbu.org.uk.

Scoring by International Match Points (IMP). Seeds will be limited to FOUR. 32, 48, or 64 boards. Entry is £40 per team: Two matches are guaranteed as 'unlucky' teams who lose in the early rounds are automatically entered into the Scottish Cup Plate. Click on the EVENT name above for more details.

SBU National Swiss Teams
Teams of 4,5 or 6 8 rounds of 7 boards
Played on BBO. Start 11am Sunday 19 September. Played in 2 sessions of 28 boards - 90 minute break at the end of session 1 at approximately 2:30 pm, expected finish time 7 pm. Cost BBO$ 15 pp payable on registration on the day. Maximum 10 National Points.
It would be helpful if players could register their interest so that we have an idea of numbers
Each player must have updated Mempad with their BBO user name prior to registration.
SBU Sims - Lord Thomson Trophy
Simultaneous pairs with heats held in clubs during the week of 18th - 21st October
Heats will be held in clubs on each night of the week, with different boards in each heat from Monday to Wednesday. Thursday and Friday heats use the same boards.
The Sims will be run by ECATS and will include a commentary on the hands played.

Diamond Trophy
National Simultaneous match pointed senior pairs - you must have been 62 on the 1st January 2020 to be eligible to play.
Players are expected to play in the heat of their home district. Partnerships with players from 2 districts should agree with one of these districts which heat they will play in.
Results from heats in districts will be merged to give a final ranking. Approximately 45 boards to be played in each heat
10 National points for the winners with bonus points to the top half
BBO$15 or £12 per person. Enter via your district.
Thea Teale Bronze Pairs
The Thea Teale Pairs is the SBU National Pairs tournament for Bronze ranked players. You must be a bronze ranked player on the 1st September ranking list on the SBU website to be eligible to play.
Heats will be held in districts and then the results from all districts merged to produce a single winner. Approximately 24 boards will be played. 3 National Points to the winners with awards to the top third.
Cost BBO$ 7.50 per person. Enter via your district
Rayne Trophy
Multple teams of four for the Edward Rayne Trophy.
District heats were cancelled due to low entries.
All teams who had entered the heats have been invited to play in the final
The final will start at 11am and will be held on Real Bridge. Instructions will be sent out to players.
