The SBU is pleased to note that Liz McGowan has taken up the role of Chair of Bridge Great Britain. BGB is the organisation that replaced the British Bridge League when, in 2000, England, Scotland and Wales were recognised as separate NBOs by the World Bridge Federation.
The Core Committee consists of a representative from each of the Home nations: one delegate each from England, Scotland and Wales, plus an indefatigable secretary in Sandra Claridge. There is an Expanded Committee, with delegates from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, to deal with matters relating to the Camrose series.
Its function is to run British events: the Camrose series and the Gold Cup are its two major responsibilities.
Liz would really like to see more Scottish support for the Gold Cup; and for the online Junior Pairs. Information on these can be found on the website - Bridge Great Britain, United Kingdom (bridgewebs.com)
