SCOTTISH BRIDGE UNION
The home of Scottish Bridge

The numbers playing in Women’s International Competitions have been falling and, in particular, small countries are finding it difficult to field women’s teams. The EBL set up a committee and invited representatives from as many European countries as they could to meet online and discuss ideas for addressing this problem. Lack of practice and training for aspiring international players was cited as a problem for many.

As a result the EBL has launched an excellent training initiative in which Scottish women players are invited to participate :

  • one session each month starting at 18:30 UK time - free of charge for players
  • 3 short (5/6 board) matches against other women’s teams on Real Bridge
  • at the end, a group discussion of the hands led by a top female international player

This is a fantastic opportunity for the SBU to encourage and support both our regular international players and those who aspire to play for Scotland at some point.

Any women’s partnerships interested in being involved and playing in these sessions or simply wanting to know more about the intiative, please contact the SBU EBL Women’s Coordinator, Fiona Greenwood
