The West District runs FIVE divisions during the winter.
Divisions 1, 2, 3, and 4 exist as a group, with the standard approach to promotion and relegation.
These four divisions play matches of at least 24 boards in teams-of-eight format.
Each season, the top two teams in the divisions 2, 3 and 4 are promoted to the next highest division, and the bottom two teams in each of divisions 1, 2 and 3 are relegated.
Division 5 is a seperate division reserved for less experienced players and is stand-alone. Only 20 boards are played in each match, with a teams-of-four format.
Players in division 1 matches earn 102 pts (1.02 LP) for each win. For divisions 2 to 4 the points for a win are respectively 90 (0.90 LP), 78 (0.78 LP) and 66 pts (0.66 LP).
Division 5 is treated as a single division, points are awarded, based upon the Area League scale, since a District can only have one League.
Thus division 5 teams earn 57 pts (0.57 LP) for each win, being 68 prorated for the TWENTY boards instead of the standard TWENTY-FOUR.
If the result of any match is a tie, points are shared 50/50.
