Winter 4s 2022
The Winter 4s is the premier teams event on the SBU calendar. We ran it for the first time online in March 2021 and it proved to lend itself well to the format on Realbridge. The decision has therefore been taken to run it along similar lines again, but to move it to its usual time slot at the end of January over the final two weekends. The attached poster gives you some more details about how to enter. images/users/10590/Winter4'sPoster2022.pdf We hope to see as many teams as possible taking part. Anne Perkins

Council is delighted to announce that Janet Unsworth has agreed to take over from Robert Clow as a Congress Convenor, officially from 1st January, aided and abetted by Frances McKeon. They are both very pleased to have the continued support of the experienced Julie and Hasan Choudhury. Many of you will know Janet, a member of both the Carlton and New Melville, for her enthusiasm and engaging personality. Like Frances, she also has a sound business background. Both Janet and Frances are keenly aware that the SBU is, both in a macro and micro sense, moving into a new future which is likely to be different from the past. Hybrid club games - request to clubs
Following on from the recent article, Damien Byron, manager at the new Melville Bridge Centre, has produced an excellent Video at: https://youtu.be/BjeiXK8rUsY on how to set up and score Hybrid Club games- both on line and f2f using either BBO or RealBridge as the on-line platform. A number of Clubs have confirmed that they have, or are reopening in the near future. Other Clubs are keen to learn from others’ experiences. As it is for each Club to undertake and execute their own risk assessment, in the knowledge that it is for them to satisfy their Insurers and other relevant parties, it is probably best that we compile, with their agreement, a list of the...

The SBU have taken the decision, together with Simon Kelly of GEBOS, to cancel this year's overseas congress in Crete. We are very disappointed to have to cancel this congress but the uncertainty regarding overseas travel has made this the only possible decision. Hopefully the world will return to normality next year in time for our congresses in Peebles in March and Majorca in May. GEBOS will refund any payment you have made for the Crete congress.
