SCOTTISH BRIDGE UNION
The home of Scottish Bridge

We are very sad to announce that Dave died on Saturday night.  Dave made a huge contribution to Scottish Bridge both locally and nationally.  Locally he was President of Stirling Union Bridge Club in 1977 and 1988 and was Secretary  1974-77, 1978-82 and 1984-87.

Long before "Bronze" events, he put a huge amount of work into running a Stirling Teams competition for players below Scottish Master.  This welcomed players from all over Scotland and ran successfully for very many years.  He also ran the Clackmannan League in the 1970s and 1980s which is fondly remembered.  His "History of Stirling Union Bridge Club 1901-2001",  which was very thoroughly researched, is a fascinating read.

In 1989 he was elected to the East District Committee and, by1995, he was Chairman.  Next he became Vice President of the SBU.  in 1998 he became President of the SBU and, during his tenure, opened our new club on the 5th September, 1998.

His other works for Scottish Bridge include running the Bobby Allan Mixed Pairs Competition very efficiently for 14 years, editing the SBU News 1999-2001 and being Match Manager for two Internationals, overseeing a Lady Milne at Polmont and a win against England in Edinburgh.
