Update - 18 May 2015
The committee has confirmed the eight teams in the First Division. The remaining teams, assuming it stays at fourteen teams, will play a full round-robin on the first weekend and then split into the Second and Third Divisions for the second weekend. The draft Supplementary Conditions of Contest has been updated with the provisional timetable but the venue for the first weekend has yet to be confirmed.
The winning team will be invited to represent Scotland in the first weekend in the Camrose Trophy of the 2016 Home International Series and the Open Series of the 2016 European Team Championships.
The six teams remaining in the First Division (Sime, Piper, Outred, Short, Morrison, and Ash) and the two promoted teams (Smith and Bouverie) may play by right in the First Division, provided that they meet the team continuity requirements:
A player is qualified if he:
- is a member of one of the six teams remaining in the First Division or the two promoted teams, and
- met the playing requirements, the eligibility requirements, and any other requirements in the Scottish National League 2014 – Supplementary Conditions of Contest.
To maintain team continuity:
- For a team that had three, four or five qualified players at the end of the season, the team must retain at least three of those players in the next season.
- For a team that had six qualified players at the end of the season, the team must retain at least four of those players in the next season.
If a team has such a quorum it may add any further eligible players it chooses, up to the limit of six players.
There is no absolute requirement for the qualified players from the preceding season to play any minimum number of boards for a team to whose continuity they contributed. However, teams are expected to act in good faith, by submitting only players who intend to play in the League.
If there are fewer than eight teams eligible to play by right in the First Division, then any remaining places will be filled by the teams with the lowest number of qualifying points. A team's qualifying points is established from the qualifying points of its four best-rated players. In the case of a tie for the eighth place, the Committee will decide based on bridge merit. In the event that there are more than two divisions, the composition of the second and lower divisions will use the same methodology.
